Re: UVERS - PUTTB_SHD & PUTTB after upgrade failure

$

Hi Brian,

this upgrade sounds like a nightmare ;-(

sorry for that ...

As you obviously do not have the corresponding log directories, I would try the following:

Logon as DDIC and run the report RSUPGRES (if this fails, it is ok as well)

Check in UVERS table if there are any entries with condition

NEWRELEASE = 'Target release of the started upgrade'

If there are any delete them

Then, I would hope, the new upgrade would start and proceed here ...

Hello Volker - hope to find you well -

I did try running  RSUPGRES in dia but immediatly get error

Log writer aborted with RC 1 Message no. TG154 Diagnosis An
internal error occurred. System Response Termination of upgrade phase BATCHCHK Procedure
Contact the upgrade hotline.

If I try to  execute RSUPGRES in background it is looking for a variant which I have none.

I would be able to delete all the components from UVERS since they all have the 740 entries.

Do you think I would need to do anything with the PUTTB table as well?

Regards,

Brian

Hi Brian,

you can at least delete all entries of UVERS ...

... and then try again ... as you obviously had no shadow that time, it should not hurt too much, that this report didn't run ..

upgrade-phase "PREP_PRE_CHECK/SCANDIR_EPS0

We use SUM

Software Update Manager Version: 1.0 Support Package Version: 11 Patch Level: 2

In Phase PREP_PRE_CHECK/SCANDIR_EPS0 we got following error:

Last error code set is: No write access to directory '/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in'

The directory is a symbolic link to an other partition.

- We  reset passwsord for SID-ADM on both patition. On OS/400 the user SID-ADM has write-acces to the EPS/in directory

- We restart System and SUM.

has anyone an idea about to resolve the problem?

best regards

Hi Cornelius,

because of similar issues, we always use the following profile parameter:

DIR_EPS_ROOT = /sum740/EPS

=> it is local and works often a lot better ...

Hi Experts,

We want to deploy the Single Sign On in our SAP System. Our SAP systems exist on IBM I Series(OS/DB: OS400(6.1)/DB2). And our Domain controller exist on windows Server 2012 machine. Is it possible to do in this scenario ? How to do join domain the ibm i servers into windows based domain? I need step by step guide. Please help me.

Thanks

Asad

Hello Asad,

yes, it is possible in your landscape ;-)

There is a guide out from Kolby Hoezle as an IBM paper. You should hunt for that one.

Otherwise, we could support you in this as well.

Deleting UVERS was all we needed to start again -

Ran into the original error

nametab for "CRMCHKEXC" not activated  -  which I got around the first time by deleting and creating the primary index - which in-turn really screwed up the system.

Ended up getting Fixed with apply  PTF - and hitting continue  -

PTF= SI53784 REQ
APAR= SE59481 STAT= CLOSED COR R710

APAR= SE59481 SER= MS MSGMCH5601

OSP-DB-OTHER-F/#DBMDSAT-T/QDBCHGFI-MSGMCH5601 ALTER TABLE

Hi Brian,

that is really good news ;-))

So, you were able to recover ...

I guess, you are in the shadow activating now or even in the downtime ...

This is sometimes normal and needs a "good healing" by a consultant or SAP.

Recreating indexes is not really appropiate - but should not be too bad ...

I would need to see the situation and then it is normal, that we were able to fix it ...

Hi,

interesting would be, what else in the joblog can be found ...in general sql0901 is an OS bug ... based on the full joblog, we can find out if this was an issue from IBM or on your tables.

Hi,

you do NEED the saphostagent on System i, as this one brings the XDN interface, you do need ;-))

Please restart saphostagent once, as it forgets to start XDN trhe first time ...

have fun, is really running good ;-)

Hi

There is an OSS note for SQL error 901, check the possible cause based on this note  47435 - AS/400: error analysis for SQL0901

Also, can you check trace file (or attach it here),  for background work process which had above issue ?, dev_wX may have some interesting details ?

How to order an application server license

Hello,

I'm trying to find out what is required (P level, part number, etc.) to order an application server license. I'm referring to the discounted system i license that is valid for running PI, Portal and SolMan in a partition. In our case we would like the information for a 720 and 740 model.

Thanks,

Craig

Hi,

There will be more information on the error in the OS level job log for the work process the error occured in.

Note 116192 explains how to use WRKJOB to find it :

  1. WRKJOB JOB(<qualified job name>)

Secondary indexes suddenly missing in DSPDBR

$

We've encountered an odd problem in our ECC 6.0 development system.  The system is reporting all the secondary indexes on MARA don't exist at the database level.  All the logical files are still there but when we look at data base relations for MARA none of the index files are displayed.  We're trying to track down what happened and we don't see any journal receiver entries for the indexes, for example "MARA+A".

Any suggestions or ideas on where to look?

thanx

Mark
